Things are SOOOO Bad. What Can You Do? -- Get informed about your choices for the off-year Election Primary in May!
There's a MontCo Judicial Candidates' forum on Zoom on Thursday evening
If you’re feeling angry at the Democrats as well as the Republicans, you’re not alone. National Democrats seem to always be bringing a water pistol to a 5-alarm fire.
Frustrated by watching the national nightmare unfold on TV, I recently took an impulsive trip to Washington, DC for a couple days. I spoke at length to the aides for Senator John Fetterman and Senator Bernie Sanders. I sent posters through the Capitol’s interoffice mail, reaching 130 Democratic U.S. Representatives and all 47 Democratic U.S. Senators. My message to national Democrats was simple: Get out there in front of the narrative of irreparably broken government that Musk and Trump are spinning.
My fear is that when the U.S. government has to vote for another funding bill in March, that Trump and Musk will find some way to blame the Democrats for the fact that the Republicans “have to” slash Social Security and Medicare. I want the Democrats to seize every bullhorn they can now - podcasts, social media, TV (including Fox,) to discredit what’s going on for what it is - the wholesale destruction of U.S. government systems that were working, not perfectly, but nonetheless working for every American. My fear is that if the Democrats wait until they are blamed for a large reduction in Social Security and Medicare to speak up, that it’s too late for the average non-involved voter to connect the dots.
I don’t know if my 2-day foray into the halls of the U.S. Capitol made any difference, but it was worth a shot. This is a political emergency.
So What Can You Do?
Please make your voice heard. If you haven’t already done so, please call Senator John Fetterman’s Washington DC office at (202) 224-4254 and Rep. Madeleine Dean’s Washington, DC office at 202-225-4731. These phone calls really do make a difference. Our US Senators and Representatives use them to gauge public sentiment, guiding them take future action.
What’s Going On Locally?
The Montgomery County Democratic Committee is gearing up for the May off-year primary. On the ballot will be North Penn School Board (4 open seats out of 9 total school board members,) Montgomery County Jury Commissioner, and Judges for Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas.
My husband, Ken Keiser, who is the currently Judge of Elections for Upper Gwynedd-6, was endorsed by the Area 5 Democratic Committee for one of four open spots on the North Penn School Board! Ken is a cybersecurity analyst for New York City’s Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA.) He has worked in cybersecurity for 13 years, creating governance plans for industry through his former employer, Ernst & Young (EY). Before that, Ken handled negotiations with local water and wastewater facilities, since Ken is an industrial engineer who marketed and sold the technology that runs those plants. If elected, Ken will be on the Safety Committee that oversees North Penn School District’s physical and cybersecurity.
When the four School Board nominees are officially endorsed by the Area 5 Democratic Committee later this month, I will follow up with the backgrounds of everyone included on the Democratic slate for North Penn School Board.
